Founded in 2000, based in Ontario, Canada, BTNX Inc. became a trusted leader in the rapid point-of-care diagnostic space with a strong presence in the U.S. and over 135 countries worldwide.

Our founder, Iqbal Sunderani, is a civil engineer with over 20 years of experience in the in vitro diagnostic industry. Throughout his career, he has gained extensive expertise in regulatory, research, development, and production.

While in the UK, Iqbal’s research into forensic drug testing sparked his passion for point-of-care diagnostic tests. Upon returning to Canada, he founded BTNX Inc. to pursue this newfound interest and revolutionize the diagnostic industry.

2000   

• BTNX Inc. founded.
• Was only a team of 3 in a small office in Markham, ON.
• Primarily sold drug screening products to the U.S. online.

2002

• As sales increased, BTNX developed their own inventory management software system. With many updates and improvements, the system has become an essential tool used in the company.
• The Rapid Response brand was created, focusing on simple but reliable point-of-care diagnostic solutions, in which would bring company awareness and recognition in the market.
• Obtained ISO 13085 to become a licensed manufacturer of rapid diagnostics and obtained CE approval to expand the business globally.
• Offered more products to our portfolio including infectious diseases, urinalysis, women’s health, cancer screening, cardiac markers, endocrinology, food testing, glucose monitoring, and medical accessories.

2007

• Introduced POCDA™ (Point of Care Digital Analyzer) hardware and software, which was a small compact unit that integrated with medical instruments and networks to manage patient data. Today, now called Point-of-Care Diagnostic-data Administration, our POCDA™ has developed into an interface that allows labs, clinics, and staffing agencies to record and manage patient test results with many of our technologies including the Lateral Flow Reader, Urine Analyzer U120, and our Lateral Flow Scanner.

2011

• Released Rapid Response Fentanyl Test Strips, becoming a key player in harm reduction programs across North America. With the best performance in the market supported by John Hopkin’s study, our test strips are recognized in the news and in the harm reduction community.

2012

• Partnered with Lochness Medical Supplies to expand into the U.S. market, strengthening our presence in the diagnostic industry.

2018

• Launched The RapidReader App – the first of its kind using AI technology to improve workflow solutions.

2020

• Supplied nearly 400 million COVID-19 tests to the Canadian government, helping healthcare providers combat the pandemic. BTNX became the largest supplier of rapid antigen tests, earning a letter of commendation.
• Rebranded Rapid Response.

2022

• Moved to a larger head office in Pickering, ON, to accommodate our growing team and business.

• BTNX Inc. offers over 300+ products, distributing point-of-care diagnostic solutions to over 135 countries and more. Together with Lochness Medical Supplies, BTNX Inc. has over 50 members in Canada, the USA, and the UK.
